Director of Payroll

SBM Management is searching for a Payroll Director! The Payroll Director directs and coordinates activities of department in order to pay employees, as well as compile payroll information by managing payroll preparation; data integrity, data reports and compliant data maintenance.
Responsible for the oversight of payroll administration, taxes and garnishments.
Proactive leadership and direction to ensure the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and company policy.
Serves as the subject matter expert for federal, state and international payroll wage and hour laws to ensure compliance.
Oversees programs and processes which assures the compliant and timely issuance of wages to employees
Demonstrates and promotes strong customer service through collaboration with employees, HR and IT.
Identifies business improvement opportunities to ensure payroll accuracy and efficiency in support of continued growth.
Manages payroll vendors and service providers.
Enhances payroll related policies and procedures.
Maintains the integrity of the timekeeping system security administration and control
Primary payroll systems expert and resource for the department
Directs compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as union dues and payments
Represents the payroll department at management meetings
Ensures delivery of reports of earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, disability and nontaxable wages
Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
Helps determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculations of employee federal, state income and social security taxes, and required employee's deduction including those required under a Collective Bargaining agreement
Directs primary check printing responsibility during payroll and between pay cycles
Oversees the payroll processors in the payroll department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year College or technical school; or 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience designing talent assessments, management development and creating cultural change are highly desired.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
A working knowledge of JDE is desirable.
Working knowledge of multi state FLSA and compensation laws and guidelines.
Available Shift: Full Time
Compensation: Depends on experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
